Pan Pillow® Specifications
The deflated dimensions of the Pan Pillow® are 24 inches long, and 16 inches wide. The aluminum bars are solid aluminum 1/8 inch thick, 1 inch wide and 16 ¼ inches wide.
The Pan Pillow will inflate to a maximum diameter of ten inches without load. The inflatable bladder consists of a multi fiber cord imbedded into a 3 1/16 thick industrial strength oil and solvent resistant rubber membrane, with a maximum rating of 75 PSI.
Before riveting, each end of the membrane is bonded together with an industrial strength adhesive, with a rating of 90% of vulcanizing. Two coats are applied before sealing the membrane closed. As a whole, the Pan Pillow® is rated at 20 PSI max.
Test results proved the Pan Pillow® failed at an inflation of approximately 100 PSI. The failure occurred in the in the middle section at one end, resulting in a very low-pressure leak. In picture 3 and 4, you can see there was incredible pressure against the ends, which bent the bars outwards. From a safety stand point this was a very safe breach under far more extreme pressure than the Pan Pillow is rated for.

THE MOST AMAZING PART OF THIS TEST WAS THAT THE PAN PILLOW® WAS INFLATED AGAIN ONE DAY LATER WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATION TO 25 PSI WITHOUT A LEAK. THE INVENTOR CONTINUED TO USE THIS PAN PILLOW® FOR OVER SIX MONTHS WITHOUT WITH OUT ANY MODIFICATIONS BEFORE IT WAS RETIRED FOR BIGGER AND BETTER.
The Pan Pillow® will inflate to a maximum diameter of 10 inches without a downward force, and total height achieved will be determined by the total weight being lifted. The Pan Pillow® comes with a maximum rating of 20 PSI. although you will be looking at an average pressure of 3-5 PSI for most applications. Testing proved that at 17 PSI the Pan Pillow® raised a 1989 Honda Accord high enough off the ground that you would be able to change a flat tire. ALTHOUGH THIS WAS ONLY FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY, THE PAN PILLOW® LIFTED THE BACK END OF A 2005 F450 ENTIRELY OFF THE GROUND AT 40 PSI.
There are 2 valve stems and each valve stem is chrome over brass, one containing a valve to inflate, and one without the valve for deflation. The valve for inflation has a 60-degree bend is easy inflation, and the straight valve stem is for quick deflation.
Each rivet used to attach the leg mounts and seal the ends closed is a industrial strength 2 part rivet made from aluminum, and the compressing force required to bond the two components is severe.
The leg mounts are constructed from solid aluminum, and vary in width based on the application of the different wheel lift manufacturers. The legs are manufactured from ½ inch solid aluminum round bar.
